How it is calculated
- Weekly holiday allowance = paid holiday hours × hourly wage. Paid holiday hours are weekly contractual hours ÷ 40 × 8, capped at 8. This is what the method in the Enforcement Decree of the Labor Standards Act, Table 2 gives when a full-time worker does five days and 40 hours a week. At 20 hours a week on ₩10,320: 4 hours × ₩10,320 = ₩41,280.
- Under 15 hours a week there is no allowance. You must attend every contractual working day of the week. According to the ministry’s counselling answers, arriving late or leaving early is not an absence.
- Hours per month = (weekly contractual hours + paid holiday hours) × 365 ÷ 7 ÷ 12. For a 40-hour week the calculator uses the 209 hours stated in the ministry’s notice. For shorter weeks it uses the formula as is and shows one decimal (20 hours a week = 104.3 hours).
- Monthly to hourly divides monthly pay by the hours per month, dropping won fractions.
- The minimum wage check is a simple comparison on base pay. This calculator cannot judge which allowances or bonuses count.
The weekly holiday also applies to workplaces with four or fewer workers (Enforcement Decree of the Labor Standards Act, Table 1). Last checked 2026-10-10.
