An estimate. The National Pension is charged on an income figure that is set once a year, so your payslip can differ, and income tax is a monthly advance that is settled in the year-end tax settlement. This calculator uses the standard monthly withholding table that applies to residents. Check exact amounts on your payslip or with the National Pension Service and the National Health Insurance Service. The amounts you enter never leave this device. Rules and sources

Checked against the laws and agency notices below on 10 October 2026. The pages are in Korean. The full table is on the about page.
How it is calculated
- Monthly pay is the annual salary divided by 12, with won fractions dropped. If you say severance is included in the salary, it is divided by 13. That is a common rule of thumb, not a formula in the law.
- Taxable monthly pay is monthly pay minus non-taxable pay. Premiums and income tax are worked out on it. The basis is the Enforcement Decree of the National Pension Act, Article 3, the Enforcement Decree of the National Health Insurance Act, Article 33 and the Insurance Premium Collection Act, Article 2 (for Employment Insurance we confirmed the Act’s wording only). Some non-taxable items still count as pay for health insurance.
- Meal allowance: up to ₩200,000 a month is tax-free for workers who are not given meals (Income Tax Act, Article 12, subparagraph 3). Non-taxable items differ from company to company.
- National Pension = income used for the pension × 4.75%. That income is your taxable monthly pay with anything under ₩1,000 dropped, kept between ₩410,000 and ₩6,590,000. The National Pension Service calls it the standard monthly income (기준소득월액).
- National Health Insurance = taxable monthly pay × 3.595%, between ₩10,080 and ₩4,591,740 a month. Long-term Care Insurance = the health premium × 0.9448% ÷ 7.19%.
- Employment Insurance = taxable monthly pay × 0.9%. It is not collected from people hired after turning 65 (Insurance Premium Collection Act, Article 13).
- Income tax (monthly withholding) is looked up in the simplified withholding table (근로소득 간이세액표, in force since 1 March 2026) by pay bracket and number of dependents. You and your spouse each count as one dependent. For children aged 8 to 20 the table amount is reduced by ₩20,830 for one child, ₩45,830 for two, and ₩33,330 more for each further child. Local income tax is 10% of the income tax.
- Rounding: this calculator rounds each premium and tax down to ₩10, following the rounding rule of the Management of the National Funds Act, Article 47. Your employer’s figures can differ by a few tens of won.
This calculator uses the standard monthly withholding table that applies to residents. It is not tax or labor advice. Check exact amounts on your payslip, or with the National Pension Service and the National Health Insurance Service. Last checked 2026-10-10.
What changes in January 2027
